Class Descriptions

In our Mixed-Age Classes, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the grownups who love them® gather for 45 minutes of fun-filled family music time. Your teacher will lead you and the other families in music activities ranging from lullabies to full-on jam sessions (with child-friendly instruments, of course). It’s so much fun you won’t realize how much learning is taking place!

You’ll take home the award-winning music used in class, along with an illustrated songbook and other resources. As you discover new ways to play with music all week long, you’ll be supporting your child’s music-learning and overall development---even if you don’t think of yourself as a great singer or dancer.

In this class, everyone participates at their own levels: babies vocalize, listen, and observe; toddlers play and

experiment; preschoolers build confidence as they emerge as classroom leaders.

 

It's never too early to start our music classes! Families with infants through 8 months are welcome in this Music Together® Babies Only Class. No older siblings allowed, as everything is geared towards the needs of our youngest learners! Come explore how to bond with your baby through music, and learn what to look for and encourage developmentally as they begin their musical journey! 

Maybe you’ve noticed that your baby responds when you play a song in the car or sing to soothe him. Babies are naturally musical—and you don’t have to be a great singer or dancer yourself to nurture their love of music. As in everything, you are your baby's first and best teacher.  In this music class for infants, your Music Together teacher will show you how you can support your baby’s music development through simple and fun activities. You’ll learn lots of musical ways to connect with your little one through music, and you’ll bond with the other new parents in your class, too.

Families with babies 9 months and older, please register for a Mixed Age class.

 

For children from PreK through second grade, Rhythm Kids®® by Music Together is the music and movement program where children explore rhythm through drumming, singing, and dancing to a combination of Music Together® songs specifically adapted for their age and new music inspired from around the world.

Rhythm Kids®® completes the early childhood music development path from birth through age 8, including music pre-litearcy. Children learn to drum, sing, and move to new rhythms, work in ensemles, conduct, and improvise. Through dymanic music games and activities, they develop skills like recognizing and playing patterns and soloing, they develop timing, coordination, listening skills, and self-expression, and they build self-confidence and social abilities. Grownup participation is encouraged.

Classes

Specially designed for infants not yet crawling fast and their grownups, the Babies Only class is the perfect activity for you and your baby!

No Prerequisites for Babies: There isn’t anything your baby needs to do before you join our classes. Our sessions are designed to accommodate all levels of development.

No Prerequisites for You: No need for a musical background, training or ability! Simply show up and be ready to connect with your baby through singing, dancing and playing (no, you don't even need to be able to sing in tune!).

Support Your Child’s Growth: If you’re curious about your child’s interests, personality, and development, and want to learn how to best support their growing confidence and desire to participate, then you are ready for class!

Build Your Community: One of the comments we hear most often from parents is “I wish I had started music class sooner.” Our classes are also a great way to meet other parents and families and grow your mom/dad-community!

 Music Together Mixed Ages, 0-5yrs

Classes

This class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
